Bathroom Accessories Buying Guide

Accessories work best when planned around how you move through the room. Decide positions and fixing methods before selecting a matching finish.

By Bubly Bathrooms · Product selection advice

Plan positions around everyday use

Place towel storage, toilet roll holders and hooks where users can reach them comfortably. Check door swings, shower screens and the space needed to lift towels on and off rails.

Mark proposed positions before drilling. Consider seated reach and the needs of different household members rather than treating one mounting height as universal.

Choose suitable fixings

Wall construction, tile type and the load affect the fixing method. Use the product’s instructions and have concealed pipes and cables located before drilling.

Adhesive accessories need a compatible surface and preparation method. Check load limits, curing time and whether they are intended for the proposed wet location.

Coordinate finishes carefully

The same colour name can look different across brands. If a close match matters, compare the finish range and manufacturer rather than assuming all brushed brass or black products match.

Check the cleaning instructions and warranty for each finish. Avoid abrasive products unless the manufacturer explicitly permits them.

Separate storage from support

An ordinary towel rail or shelf is not a grab rail. Where someone needs support, select a purpose-designed product and have its location and structural fixing assessed for the user.

Check load ratings and the full installation specification. Appearance alone cannot establish whether an accessory is suitable as a support aid.

Make a room-by-room checklist

List the holders, hooks, rails, shelves and other items needed, including their dimensions and fixing positions. Check whether fixings and spare components are available.

Browse bathroom accessories after selecting your taps and shower fittings so their finishes work together.
