Baths Buying Guide
The best bath for your room is one that fits the space, the user and the plumbing. Check the installation footprint and delivery route before choosing a shape.

Measure the room and delivery route
Measure the available length and width at several points, then allow for finished wall surfaces. Check doors, stairs and corners along the delivery route using the bath’s actual dimensions.
Also compare internal bathing space. Two baths with the same external dimensions can feel different because of their slopes, rim widths and internal depth.
Choose fitted or freestanding
A fitted bath can sit against finished walls with suitable panels and sealing. A freestanding bath needs enough room around it for access, cleaning and its specified installation.
For a shower bath, check the screen’s compatibility, the showering area and whether the bath is left- or right-handed. Confirm the manufacturer’s handing convention from the drawing.
Plan taps and waste access
Check whether the bath is pre-drilled, suitable for drilling, or designed for wall- or floor-mounted taps. Do not drill a bath without following its instructions.
Confirm waste and overflow requirements, the floor connection and access for maintenance. A freestanding bath can conceal connections that need careful planning before flooring is completed.
Discuss support and hot-water capacity
Ask your installer to check support requirements for the bath, water and users, especially for heavier models or altered floors. Use the manufacturer’s support and fixing instructions.
Compare bath capacity with your hot-water provision and the proposed filler’s flow. A larger bath may take longer to fill and need more hot water than your previous one.
