Kitchen Sinks & Taps Buying Guide
Plan the sink, tap and cabinet together. The combination must fit the worktop, leave usable washing space and connect to your water supply and appliances.

Measure the cabinet and worktop
Check the sink’s minimum cabinet size, overall dimensions and required cut-out. Account for the worktop material and thickness before choosing inset or undermount installation.
Measure the space beneath the bowl for waste fittings, appliance connections and any storage. Use the exact sink template before cutting the worktop.
Choose bowls and drainer layout
A single bowl can provide uninterrupted washing space; a second bowl can help separate tasks. Compare actual bowl dimensions with the pans and trays you wash.
Check whether the sink is reversible or handed, and allow for drainer position relative to the dishwasher and preparation area. Do not infer handing from a lifestyle image.
Match the tap height and movement
Check tap-hole size, worktop or sink mounting limits, spout reach and clearance beneath cupboards or a window. Make sure the lever has room to move.
For pull-out taps, allow the specified space below for the hose and any counterweight. Check pressure and flow requirements for the exact model.
Plan specialist water features
Filtered and boiling-water systems can require a dedicated tank, filter, suitable power supply and service space. Confirm all requirements from the manufacturer before ordering.
Check ongoing filter replacement needs and the complete kit contents. Do not assume a standard mixer can be converted using an unrelated tank or accessory.
Check connections and care
Confirm waste kit, overflow, appliance connection and tap-tail requirements with your installer. Follow the material-specific care instructions for the sink and tap.
Browse kitchen fittings with your cabinet size, worktop details and supply requirements recorded.
Compare your options
| Feature | Inset sink | Undermount sink |
|---|---|---|

| Worktop | Check the sink’s permitted material and thickness. | Worktop edge and material must suit the installation. |
| Replacement | Existing cut-out must fit the new model. | Requires careful comparison of fixing and cut-out details. |
