Bathroom Mirrors Buying Guide
Choose a bathroom mirror around sight lines, lighting and the space above your basin. For powered mirrors and cabinets, plan the electrical installation before the wall is finished.

Choose size and viewing position
Measure the wall space between tiles, cupboards and fittings. Consider who will use the mirror and where they need the reflective area, rather than lining it up with the basin by habit.
For cabinets, check depth and door swing against taps and nearby walls. Leave the clearance required to fit, open and service the product.
Compare plain and illuminated mirrors
A plain mirror needs suitable room lighting. An illuminated mirror can add useful light, but compare its lighting arrangement and specifications rather than assuming it replaces all task lighting.
Look for the colour temperature, dimming and control features you need. Check whether settings are remembered after power is switched off if that matters to your routine.
Understand demisters and controls
A demister usually heats a defined area of the mirror. Check the pad size and operating instructions rather than expecting the whole surface to remain clear in every condition.
Check sensor position and required clearance from walls or cabinets. Decide whether a touch control, sensor or separate switching arrangement suits the location.
Confirm bathroom electrical suitability
Have a registered electrician check the mirror’s suitability for the intended bathroom location and the supply requirements. An IP rating alone is not a complete installation specification.
Agree cable position and isolation arrangements before tiling. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for mounting, wiring and maintenance access.
Choose storage and mounting details
For mirrored cabinets, compare shelf adjustment, internal clearances and any powered features. Check wall construction and the required fixings for the loaded cabinet.
Browse bathroom mirrors alongside your vanity unit to check their proportions and practical clearances.
