Question 1

What's the difference between illuminated and non-illuminated bathroom mirrors?

Accepted Answer

Illuminated mirrors have built-in LED lighting around or behind the mirror, providing excellent task lighting for grooming and makeup application. They also create ambient mood lighting. Non-illuminated mirrors rely on your existing bathroom lighting. LED mirrors are energy-efficient and typically come with demister pads.

Question 2

Do illuminated mirrors need an electrician to install?

Accepted Answer

For a mains-powered mirror, use a qualified installer to check the electrical connection and suitability for its intended bathroom location. Follow the model’s installation instructions and check its rating rather than assuming all illuminated mirrors are the same.

Question 3

What size bathroom mirror should I choose?

Accepted Answer

As a rule, your mirror should be the same width or slightly narrower than your basin or vanity unit for a balanced look. Standard sizes range from 400mm to 1200mm wide. In small bathrooms, a larger mirror can create the illusion of more space.

Question 4

What is a demister pad?

Accepted Answer

A demister pad is a heated element behind the mirror that prevents it from steaming up after a hot bath or shower. Many of our illuminated mirrors include a built-in demister that activates with the light. It's a small feature that makes a big daily difference.

Question 5

Do mirror cabinets provide enough storage?

Accepted Answer

Mirror cabinets are excellent for storing toiletries, medications, and grooming products whilst keeping your bathroom looking tidy. They typically offer 2-3 adjustable shelves behind the mirrored door. For families, a larger mirror cabinet can replace both a mirror and a separate storage unit. Browse our mirror cabinets collection to find the right size.
